Sentence imposed for promoting sexual performance by minor

A Minot man has been sentenced to serve 18 months after pleading guilty to promoting a sexual performance by a minor.

Donald Joseph Senger Jr., 29, Minot, was sentenced on Jan. 14 in North Central District Court after entering a guilty plea on July 18, 2025. Senger pleaded guilty to the Class B felony, while a Class A felony count of promoting or directing an obscene sexual performance by a minor was dismissed in accordance with a plea agreement.

According to court documents, the charges against Senger stemmed from an investigation by agents with North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation into a cybertip from the National Center for Missing or Exploited Children. The cybertip targeted five videos sent over private chat messages in December 2024.

In the affidavit of probable cause, Senger’s devices were seized by investigators, who located child sexual abuse material on a media storage device. Additionally, Senger admitted to investigators he owned an email address tied to the user ID linked to the cybertip.

District Court Judge Richard Hagar sentenced Senger to serve 18 months of a 5 year sentence with the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, with credit for 315 days already served. Senger was ordered to complete 3 years of supervised probation, and to register as a sex offender. He was also assessed $775 in court fines and fees.
