Republican candidates announce in District 37
DICKINSON — Republicans Sen. Dean Rummel and Kylan Klauzer announced their joint candidacy for the North Dakota Legislature to represent Dickinson’s District 37. Together, they say their decision to run reflects a shared commitment to steady leadership, fiscal responsibility and strong communities in southwest North Dakota.
Rummel was first elected to the State Senate in 2023. He is the current vice chair of Senate Finance and Taxation. In addition, he brings more than four decades of business leadership and public service. He retired in 2017 from TMI Systems Design, where he rose from staff accountant to president and chief operating officer.
Kylan Klauzer’s professional career is rooted in public service. He served nearly two decades with the Dickinson Police Department, holding investigative and supervisory roles and serving as a team leader on the regional SWAT team. Currently, he works for ONEOK and remains deeply involved in community organizations across Dickinson and western North Dakota.
