Produced water spill occurs near Mohall
MOHALL – A valve failure was the cause of a produced water spill on Wednesday, Jan. 28, about 11 miles northwest of Mohall, that impacted the surrounding agricultural land.
Cobra Oil and Gas Corporation notified the North Dakota Department of Environmental Quality (NDDEQ) of the spill of about 7,350 gallons of produced water.
Produced water is a byproduct of oil and gas extraction.
Personnel from the NDDEQ are working with the company and will continue to monitor the investigation and remediation.
