Northland focuses on men’s wellness in January
TURTLE LAKE — Northland Health Centers is encouraging men to take advantage of discounts on health screenings being offered through Jan. 31.
“Preventive screenings are one of the most powerful tools we have to protect men’s health. By identifying risks early, we can take steps that lead to better outcomes and peace of mind,” said Melissa McClintock, a family nurse practitioner and medical director of Northland Health Centers.
Availability testing includes a lipid panel that helps detect signs of high cholesterol that could indicate increased risk of heart disease or stroke. The basic metabolic panel indicates overall electrolyte balance and kidney functions. A PSA test can help determine the risk of developing prostate cancer.
According to the American Cancer Society, about 1 in 8 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer during their lifetime, making early detection vitally important for effective treatment and better outcomes, according to Northland Health Centers.
