ND congressional delegation supports president’s decision

North Dakota’s congressional delegation took to social media Saturday, Jan. 4, to give their support to President Trump for his action in taking now deposed Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro into custody.

U.S. Sen. Kevin Cramer, R-ND, chair of the Senate Armed Services (SASC) Airland Subcommittee, said, “No half-measures. Under President Trump, with Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, Attorney General Pam Bondi, FBI Director Kash Patel, and our unmatched military, Nicolas Maduro has been taken into custody and will face justice in the United States. When America leads, the world is safer.”

U.S. Sen. John Hoeven, R-ND, said, “Nicolas Maduro was indicted in the U.S. for drug crimes that have killed too many Americans, and he is the head of a drug cartel that has taken over a country, which is why President Donald J. Trump took decisive action. We appreciate the brave servicemembers and law enforcement officials who undertook this extremely complex and difficult mission to make the United States safer and more secure.

U.S. Rep. Julie Fedorchak, R-ND, said, “The world needs strong and decisive leadership right now and President Trump and his administration is providing that. Nicolas Maduro is a ruthless cartel leader that has trafficked drugs into the U.S. for years, killing hundreds of thousands of Americans. Prosecuting him and bringing him to justice will make America — and the world — safer. I am grateful for the strong leadership from the President and the bravery of our special forces who completed the mission.

I look forward to briefings from the administration on many significant outstanding questions about our ongoing involvement in Venezuela, including who is going to lead this effort, for how long, what is the exit strategy, and how are we paying for it.”
