Minot man charged with continuous sexual abuse of child

A Minot man has been arrested and charged with nine felonies, including the continuous sexual abuse of a child and luring minors by computer.

Cory James Morgan, 37, made his initial appearance in North Central District Court on Wednesday, Jan. 21. Morgan has been charged with continuous sexual abuse of a child, a Class AA felony; luring minors by computer, a Class B felony; endangerment of child or vulnerable adult, and six counts of possession of certain materials prohibited, all Class C felonies.

According to court documents, Minot Police investigated a report in July 2025 alleging an inappropriate relationship between Morgan and a juvenile victim. The victim told investigators the alleged inappropriate relationship had been going on for several months and Morgan had provided the victim with alcohol and marijuana. A sexual assault exam was performed, which supplied a DNA match with a sample collected from Morgan’s residence.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, communications between Morgan and the victim were recovered from their cell phones, and the victim provided an accurate description of Morgan’s bedroom.

Morgan is currently in custody at the Ward County Jail. The next court date for this matter has not yet been set based on court records.

In a release, the Minot Police Department indicated the incident was still under investigation, and encouraged the public to report any information about the exploitation of a child to local law enforcement or submit a report to the NCMEC at https://report.cybertip.org.
