Minot candidates announce joint run for ND House in District 3

Tim Mihalick and Blaine DesLauriers have announced their joint candidacy for the North Dakota House of Representatives in District 3. The announcement stated this Republican ticket brings decades of leadership experience, deep community involvement and a shared commitment to strengthening District 3 and North Dakota as a whole.
Mihalick brings more than 40 years of business and public leadership experience, including currently serving as senior vice president at First Western Bank & Trust. A Minot State University graduate, Mihalick has served in numerous civic and statewide leadership roles, including as chair and current member of the State Board of Higher Education.
“I’m running to give back to the state and community that has given so much to me and my family,” Mihalick said in the announcement. “District 3 needs experienced, steady leadership focused on workforce, education, healthcare and long-term fiscal planning.”
DesLauriers is a longtime banking executive currently serving as vice chair of the board and senior executive vice president at First International Bank & Trust, overseeing five markets and 28 branch locations. A Minot State graduate with degrees in business administration and economics, DesLauriers has spent nearly five decades in financial leadership and public service.
“District 3 deserves strong leadership that is focused on fiscal responsibility, energy development and economic growth,” DesLauriers said. “I’m running to help move our district and our state forward with common sense and proven leadership.”

Together, DesLauriers and Mihalick emphasize priorities including energy development, workforce growth, education, infrastructure improvements, and maintaining a low-tax, pro-business environment. Both candidates stress the importance of listening to constituents across the district’s rural, city, and county communities and working collaboratively to deliver practical solutions.
“Our combined experience in business, governance, and community leadership uniquely positions us to represent District 3 effectively,” the candidates said in a joint statement. “We are committed to ensuring North Dakota continues to thrive for generations to come.”
The District 3 House seats currently are held by Reps. Jeff Hoverson and Lori VanWinkle. The general election will be Nov. 3.
DesLauriers and Mihalick will formally kick off their campaign on Feb. 2 at Beowulf Golf Club from 5-7 p.m.
