MACEDC hires strategic communications director
Tim Olson
The Minot Area Chamber EDC has announced Tim Olson has returned to the organization to serve as its strategic communications director. Olson officially assumed the role on Jan. 12.
In this position, Olson leads MACEDC’s strategic messaging and storytelling across its five core pillars: Member Investor, Economic Development, Workforce Development, Community Development and Military Support. His work will support and build upon that of Communications and Outreach Specialist Katie Dotson.
“As the go-to organization for our business community, we work every day to drive key initiatives that strengthen our economy,” said MACEDC President and CEO Brekka Kramer. “It’s essential that we continue to elevate our member investors and spotlight the great things underway in our community. Tim is an experienced storyteller who brings the right combination of creativity and strategy to this role, and we are confident he will make a meaningful contribution to both our organization and the community we serve.”
Olson previously served as the organization’s communications and outreach specialist in 2023. He is a former television journalist who most recently served as a marketing and communications specialist at First International Bank & Trust, where he earned a Silver ADDY Award from the American Advertising Federation of North Dakota.
“The longer I live in Minot, the more deeply I appreciate what makes this community so special: its people, its places and its businesses,” Olson said. “Telling Minot’s story, and the stories of those who make our city thrive, is a privilege, and I’m delighted to rejoin the MACEDC team to do exactly that.”
Olson is a graduate of Minot High School and Minot State University. He lives in Minot with his wife, Courtney, an assistant professor in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at MSU, and their 4 year old son. Together, they enjoy exploring Minot’s parks, playgrounds and family attractions.
