Fort Stevenson to hold candlelight hike
GARRISON – The public is invited to experience Fort Stevenson State Park’s 2026 Evening Hike Series, with the second hike of the season taking place on Saturday, Jan. 31.
This self-guided evening hike begins at the Visitor Center, where participants can enjoy the beauty of the Snow Moon illuminating the landscape. From 6:30-7:30 p.m., the approximately one-mile trail will be lined with candle luminaries, creating a magical and welcoming atmosphere.
The event is pet-friendly, and well-behaved pets on leashes are welcome.
Participants may choose to hike, cross-country ski, snowshoe, or kicksled along the trail, depending on conditions. Snowshoes, backcountry skis, and kicksled rentals are available. To reserve equipment, contact the park office at 337-5576.
The park charges a $7 vehicle entrance fee unless a current N.D. Parks & Recreation Department annual pass is displayed. Fort Stevenson State Park is located three miles south of Garrison.
