Fire damages welding shop

SURREY – Multiple fire departments responded to a commercial structure fire at 4 Acres Welding & Fabrication on Saturday, Jan. 24, with about 50 firefighters on scene at the peak of the response, according to Surrey Fire Chief Jordan Mauro.

Fire crews battled the fire for several hours in sub-zero temperatures, using tanker relays to maintain water supply. Departments assisting included Surrey, Minot Rural, Burlington, Granville, Sawyer and Minot Air Force Base.

No injuries were reported. The fire remains under investigation, and the cause has not yet been determined. Mauro said he was unable to immediately confirm the exact time the fire was reported or when crews were cleared from the scene.

The business is owned by Joe and Amanda Duchsherer and is located at 105 125th S. SE at Surrey.

Fire destroys utility

trailer in northwest Minot

A 16-foot utility trailer was destroyed in a fire near the overpass on Fourth Avenue Northwest in Minot Saturday night.

According to Glenn Hardy with the Minot Fire Department, the trailer was being pulled when the fire occurred. The cause of the fire is not yet known, and the trailer was considered a total loss.
