DCB seeks nominations for 2026 Conservationist of the Year
BOTTINEAU — Dakota College at Bottineau is seeking nominations for its 2026 Conservationist of the Year Award.
The award, presented by the college’s Earth Day Committee and Natural Resources Department, will be announced during the DCB Earth Day celebration scheduled for April 24.
The Conservationist of the Year Award recognizes an individual who has demonstrated leadership and made significant contributions to the conservation, preservation and enhancement of natural resources, as well as to environmental education. Recipients are honored for their work in developing, promoting and implementing projects that benefit the community and encourage environmental responsibility.
Founded in 1906, Dakota College at Bottineau has long emphasized education rooted in environmental stewardship. The college’s Nature, Technology and Beyond focus reflects its original mission of providing practical training in forestry, horticulture, agriculture, nursery and greenhouse practices, while remaining student-focused and community-centered.
Two individuals received conservation awards in 2025. Angie Bartholomay was recognized for her work in environmental education, which served as a national model. A retired professor from DCB, Bartholomay dedicated her career to teaching environmental ethics and practices, inspiring thousands of students across the state to pursue careers in natural resources.
Monica Yoder received the Young Conservationist Award in 2025. Yoder was recognized for her volunteer work in natural resources and is a graduate of DCB, holding an Associate of Science degree in natural resources and an Associate of Applied Science degree in wildlife and fisheries technology.
Nominations may be submitted by contacting Michelle Cauley, natural resource instructor, at 228-5498 or by email. The nomination deadline is Friday, March 6.
