BOTTINEAU — Dakota College at Bottineau will host its second small unmanned aircraft systems (sUAS) Industry Bootcamp from March 31 through April 1, building on the success of the program’s inaugural offering in 2025.
The immersive workshop is designed to equip professionals in agriculture, natural resources and related fields with practical drone technology skills applicable to real-world industry challenges, according to DCB information.
The bootcamp is part of the college’s ongoing National Science Foundation Advanced Technological Education grant initiatives, which focus on strengthening North Dakota’s rural workforce by preparing highly skilled sUAS technicians through education and hands-on training.
The program includes three components: more than 24 hours of required online coursework covering Federal Aviation Administration regulations, flight planning, weather essentials and drone maintenance; two full days of in-person, hands-on training featuring practice flights, expert instruction and guest speakers from industry; and a capstone project aligned with participants’ employer objectives. The program will conclude with a virtual showcase in May.
Participants will receive all course materials, housing and meals during the in-person workshop, a bootcamp T-shirt, and access to expert instructors and networking opportunities. Hands-on sessions will take place on the Bottineau campus, with possible excursions to observe drone use in field settings.
Registration opened Jan. 1 and closes Feb. 4. Space is limited. The online curriculum begins Feb. 9, with coursework to be completed by March 27 in preparation for the in-person workshop.
