The Minot Police Department and Ward County Sheriff’s Department are warning the public about scam calls impersonating law enforcement.

Recently, scammers have claimed those contacted have a federal warrant or missed jury duty. The scammer may use real officer names and fake case numbers to sound legitimate, according to Minot Police information.

Anyone receiving a call like this should hang up and report it to local law enforcement.

– Law enforcement will never ask for money over the phone.

– Law enforcement will never ask for personal information by phone.
