Suspect arrested in connection to SWAT incident

A suspect was arrested in connection with an Oct. 29 incident that led to a SWAT Team activation at a residence in northwest Minot.

According to the Minot Police Department, officers were dispatched to a residence in northwest Minot at 6 a.m., Sunday, Dec. 14, for a report of a roommate inviting unwanted individuals into the residence.

Upon arrival, officers had reason to believe Moises Chavez, 45, Minot, was inside the residence. Chavez was arrested in connection with the Oct. 29 SWAT incident, and faces charges of terrorizing, aggravated assault-serious bodily injury, both Class C felonies; fleeing a peace officer, a Class A misdemeanor; and four counts of disobedience of a judicial order. Chavez was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Ward County Jail.

During the investigation, officers determined two additional individuals at the residence had outstanding warrants.

The initial reporting party, Christina Lee Gibson, 40, Minot, had an outstanding warrant in Mountrail County for failure to comply and was taken into custody.

A third individual, Amanda Rae Backman, 42, Minot, was also present at the residence and had a full extradition warrant from Georgia for probation violation involving Schedule I narcotics, and was also taken into custody and transported to the Ward County Jail.

According to the Minot Police Department release, the investigation remains ongoing.
