St. Michael man indicted for murder, manslaughter of brother
FARGO — Indictments have been returned by a grand jury against a St. Michael man, who has been charged with 10 federal felonies, including murder and manslaughter.
D’Angelo James Hunt, 26, was initially charged with second degree murder on Nov. 17 in connection with the death of his brother, Isaac James Hunt, whose remains were located during a family-led search of their father’s property. Isaac Hunt had been missing since March 2024.
On Dec. 11, the Grand Jury returned an indictment for nine additional counts, including six counts of assaults and one count of voluntary manslaughter committed against an individual identified as J.M.P. in a U.S. Attorney’s release.
The indictment also charges Hunt with tampering with evidence and use of a fire to commit a felony as it relates to murder.
“Today’s unsealing of this indictment marks an important step toward justice in a case that has weighed heavily on the victims’ families and the Spirit Lake community for more than two years,” said United States Attorney Nicholas W. Chase. “No indictment can undo their loss, but it affirms our commitment to pursuing accountability with care, diligence and resolve. Of course, an Indictment is not proof of guilt, and the Defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.”
