Numerous Minot businesses fail alcohol compliance checks last month

The Minot Police Department reported 12 of 92 businesses failed an alcohol compliance enforcement campaign in November.

Compliance checks are conducted to ensure licensed businesses properly check identification to prevent the sale of alcohol to minors. During the enforcement campaign, 66 businesses passed, and 14 were found to be inactive or seasonal in nature.

Eleven of the 12 businesses out of compliance were noticed for a first offense in a 24-month period, while one was cited for its second offense in the same period. First violations receive a warning, while second violations may not serve alcohol for three consecutive days. Penalties increase to seven days for a third violation, 30 days for a fourth, and a fifth violation results in a recommendation that the establishment’s license be revoked.

Starting at $2.99/week.
