Seven new officers were sworn in to service with the Minot Police Department during a ceremony Monday, Dec. 1.

The City of Minot announced the department’s newest officers as Anthony Sedillo, Joe Jackson, John Daniels, Justin Maasjo, Atlantis Herba, Alex Boyungs and Jacob Montreal.

The additions follow the swearing in of six new officers in October.

Like many law enforcement agencies, the department had been facing recruitment issues, operating at 76-88% of optimal staffing in recent years, according to information released by the department this past fall. In early October, the department had been only 69% operationally staffed due to injuries and officer absences to attend training.

City Manager Tom Joyce emceed Monday’s event, and Mayor Mark Jantzer administered the oaths of office. Chief Michael Frye, Deputy Chief Dale Plessas and Sgt. Caisee Sandusky participated in the pinning portion of the ceremony.

Starting at $2.99/week.
