NDCA seeks artists for placemaking in Region 3

BISMARCK – Arts Across the Prairie, a statewide creative placemaking program developed by North Dakota Council of the Arts (NDCA), is seeking applicants with proposals for an art installation in Region 3.

Region 3, located in northcentral North Dakota, consists of the counties of Benson, Cavalier, Eddy, Ransom, Rolette and Towner. The location selected for the art installation is in Benson County. The project’s subtheme in the region is “Heart of the Land, Spirit of Unity.”

Artists must live in North Dakota or tribal reservations in South Dakota, Minnesota, Montana, Southern Manitoba or southern Saskatchewan. Those with longstanding commitment to or history with these lands and communities may also be considered.

The initial submission of materials deadline is Thursday, Jan. 15. Three finalists will be selected to submit project proposals.

It is recommended potential applicants participate in an informational webinar on Jan. 6 at 3 p.m. For information, email arts@nd.gov by Jan. 1.

Eight large-scale art installations will be created that reflect the unique history, landscape and cultural heritage as defined by stakeholder groups in each of these regions. All eight artworks will be placed in rural locations. The art installations will reference and represent the natural setting, as well as the cultural and economic history of each region, according to NDCA.

The Request for Proposals process has been completed in Regions 1, 2, 4, 6 and 8, with artists selected and installation plans in development.

Starting at $2.99/week.
