Minot Police investigating another hit-and-run downtown

The Minot Police Department has announced it is seeking information regarding a hit-and-run incident downtown Tuesday evening, Dec. 23.

According to Minot Police, officers attempted a traffic stop at approximately 8:34 p.m. after a vehicle was observed speeding driving erratically near Fifth Street and Seventh Avenue Southwest. The vehicle failed to stop, ran a red light, and a pursuit was initiated but subsequently terminated for safety reasons. The vehicle was last observed traveling eastbound on Burdick and Broadway.

At 8:36 p.m., Minot Central Dispatch received a report of a hit-and-run accident on First Avenue Southeast near the 10 block, with the reporting party indicating their vehicle was disabled in the roadway.

The striking vehicle had allegedly stopped briefly in a nearby alleyway before the driver exited and fled on foot. A Minot Police Department K-9 unit conducted a track for the fleeing driver but was unable to locate them. No clear description or witnesses are available, according to Minot Police.

The identity of the other driver is not known by investigators at this time. No injuries were reported and the condition of the driver also is unknown at this time.
