Governor receives water award
BISMARCK – North Dakota Gov. Kelly Armstrong was honored with the Andy Mork Riverman Award at the 62nd annual Joint North Dakota Water Convention and Irrigation Workshop Dec. 10 in Bismarck.
The Andy Mork Riverman Award is given by the Missouri River Joint Water Board (MRJWB) to an individual or organization for a lifetime of leadership, resource management and water development in the Missouri River corridor. Mork was a long-time Missouri River advocate.
Armstrong took office as the 34th governor of North Dakota on Dec. 15, 2024. Armstrong had been elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2018, serving as an advocate for energy independence, agricultural interests and conservative fiscal policies. Armstrong also served in the North Dakota Senate from 2012-2019. Armstrong grew up in Dickinson and earned his bachelor and law degrees from the University of North Dakota.
