The Minot Fire Department responded to a report of a fire in the backyard of a residence in the 200 block of 25th Street Northwest at 9:06 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 16.

According to fire department information, crews arrived on scene within three minutes and observed heavy fire and black smoke coming from the back of the garage, with smoke also showing from the eaves around the home. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire and performed ventilation.

The sole occupant was outside the residence upon arrival. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
