The Minot Chamber Chorale will present its annual Renaissance Feast on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 5-6, at the Regency Event Center, continuing a decades-long holiday tradition of music, theater and Renaissance-inspired celebration.
The chorale, now in its 53rd season, includes singers in their first year as well as members who have performed with the ensemble for more than 40 years. This year is the first Renaissance Feast under Choral Director Ben Eder, who previously sang with the group before assuming the leadership role, according to details of the event provided by Joe Skurzewski, vice president of the chorale’s board.
The Renaissance Feast offers guests a dinner-theater experience set in the style of the 16th century. Costumed performers present madrigals, sacred motets and traditional seasonal works. The evening features skits, music, a potato bar meal, an auction and long-standing traditions such as the “12 Days of Christmas” and “Silent Night.” A newly commissioned holiday cantata by chorister and composer Erik Anderson also will premiere.
Production leadership includes stage direction by Cheryl Nilsen and scriptwriting by Megan Klebe and Arnikka Schreier. Volunteers from the chorale and the board contribute to planning each year, including ensuring performers have appropriate Renaissance-era attire.
Doors open at the Regency at 6 p.m. The Dec. 5 performance begins at 7 p.m., and the Dec. 6 performance begins at 6 p.m.
