Bishop Ryan Catholic School held its annual Las Posadas celebration Tuesday, Dec. 16, continuing a tradition that blends faith, culture and community.
Las Posadas is a Mexican and Latin American tradition that reenacts Mary and Joseph's search for shelter before the birth of Jesus. Students participated in a procession through the school, accompanied by music, prayer and reflection.
The celebration included a student-led reenactment highlighting the importance of hospitality, compassion and preparing one's heart for Christmas. Pinatas made by Bishop Ryan third-grade students were also part of the afternoon.
Las Posadas continues to be a meaningful way for the Bishop Ryan community to enter the Advent season while honoring cultural traditions and Catholic values, according to Bishop Ryan information.
