Texas man sentenced for sexual assault

A Texas man convicted on one count of gross sexual imposition after a jury trial in June has been sentenced to 2.5 years with the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.

Dylan Ray Kraft, 27, Burleson, Texas, appeared in North Central District Court on Monday, Nov. 3, for sentencing on the Class A felony. According to court documents, Kraft was charged after an investigation by Minot Police into a reported sexual assault on Jan. 23, 2021. The victim told investigators they had returned to Kraft’s residence in the early morning after a night of drinking. The victim reported being awakened by Kraft performing a sex act without consent.

Judge Richard Hagar sentenced Kraft to serve 10 years with the DOCR, with all but two years and six months suspended pending five years of supervised probation upon release. Kraft was given credit for 293 days already served and was ordered to register as a sex offender. Kraft also was ordered to have no contact with the victim and was assessed $1,025 in court fines and fees.
