Technician hired at Towner State Nursery

Dustin Striker

TOWNER — Dustin Striker has joined ​the North Dakota State University-North Dakota Forest Service as the new nursery equipment technician at Towner State Nursery.

He will assist with all essential tree production activities with a special emphasis on equipment operation and maintenance, according to NDSU-ND Forest Service. Striker’s duties include assisting with field irrigation, greenhouse operation, packaging of tree orders, field weeding, seed collection and processing and transplanting. This position is responsible for operating and maintaining equipment such as utility vehicles, irrigation pumps, skid steer, forklifts and tractors.

Striker previously worked at the International Peace Garden and recently as a seasonal equipment operator at the Towner State Nursery.

​The Towner State Nursery is a conservation nursery just north of Towner that supports tree planting efforts in North Dakota and the surrounding region. The North Dakota Forest Service has operated the 160-acre facility since 1951, annually producing one million conservation seedlings. The trees are produced to meet the needs of customers, and are used primarily in shelterbelts, living snow fences, wildlife block plantings and other conservation plantings.
