Suspect in fatal stabbing given $2 million bond

Chozey Morsette

A Minot man charged with stabbing another man to death is being held on a $2 million cash or corporate surety bond after his initial appearance on Tuesday, Nov. 25.

Chozey Joran Morsette, 30, made his initial appearance in North Central District Court after being arrested by Bismarck Police Saturday, Nov. 22. Morsette has been charged with one count of murder-extreme indifference, a Class AA felony.

According to court documents, Minot Police officers were dispatched to a northeast Minot residence shortly after 6 a.m. on Nov. 7 after an individual reported finding their neighbor stabbed outside their front step after hearing screaming. Officers arrived to find the male victim unconscious in the street curb suffering from multiple stab wounds. Despite the officers on scene attempting lifesaving measures, the victim succumbed to his injuries about 20 minutes after police arrived on scene. Minot Police have identified the victim as Anthony William Redmond.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, an eyewitness on scene told investigators they had seen four individuals enter the residence that morning, and identified Morsette as the person who had stabbed the victim. According to the affidavit, home security video obtained by investigators showed the arrival and departure of the suspect vehicle at the victim’s residence.

Investigators cited additional home security camera footage reviewed by investigators which tracked the group’s movements before and after the stabbing. Investigators eventually were able to locate and interview two of the other individuals in the vehicle with Morsette, Autumn Jade Rose Tincher, 22, and Cole Ronnie Brown, 20.

Tincher told investigators she had been asked by Morsette to give him a ride to Fargo, but she wanted to stop to visit the victim before leaving. According to the affidavit, Tincher told investigators the victim was rude to her and called Morsette a “spaz,” and Morsette stabbed the victim on their way out the door of his residence.

Judge Stacey Louser set Morsette’s bail at $2 million cash or corporate surety. His preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Feb. 4.

Starting at $2.99/week.
