Sentence issued in mobile home fire case
A Minot man has been sentenced to serve 18 months with the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation after pleading guilty to endangering the lives of three others after starting a mobile home fire in October.
Raymond Douglas Flynn, Jr. 36, entered a change of plea in North Central District Court on Tuesday, Nov. 4, pleading guilty to three Class B felony counts of endangering by fire or explosion.
According to court documents, Minot Police were dispatched to a southeast Minot residence for a report of individuals burning garbage outside of the residence. The officers located evidence indicating Molotov cocktails had been thrown and started the fire. It was determined a second fire was caused by a second Molotov cocktail inside the residence, which began to engulf the residence.
Three individuals and Flynn exited the residence, and Flynn was arrested and charged with starting the fires. The Minot Fire Department responded and quickly extinguished the blaze.
Judge Todd Cresap sentenced Flynn to serve 10 years with the DOCR, with all but 18 months suspended pending the completion of three years of supervised probation upon release. He also was assessed $775 in court fines and fees.
