ND natural gas daily production reaches all-time high

BISMARCK – North Dakota reached an all-time high in daily natural gas production in September, according to Nathan Anderson, director of the North Dakota Department of Mineral Resources.

Anderson said Friday, in the monthly oil and gas production report, the state produced 3.58 billion cubic feet (BCF) of natural gas a day.This was an increase of 1.27% from August to September.

Oil production was down slightly in September, with 1.165 barrels of oil a day produced or a 0.43% decrease from August to September. However, it was 1.38% above the revenue forecast.

Production numbers are normally about two months behind.

Currently, 28 rigs are actively working in North Dakota.

North Dakota’s market oil price averaged $56.69 a barrel in September, which was 3.9% below the revenue forecast. Currently, West Texas Intermediate oil is selling for $59 a barrel.

Ten frac crews are working in the N.D. oil field, according to the report.

In September, 95 wells were permitted and in October, 84 wells permitted. Fifty-six wells were completed in September; 65 wells were completed in October and 345 were waiting on completion.

The total number of producing wells was19,558.

Fort Berthold Reservation produced 144,772 barrels of oil a day in September, a 1.2% decrease from August.

The rig count on the reservation was at two. The total number of active permits was 158, an increase from last month, and the reservation has 3,006 active wells.

The statewide gas capture decreased to 95.3%, while Bakken gas capture also decreased to 95.6%, according to the report.

McKenzie, Williams, Dunn, Mountrail and Divide counties are the top five oil production counties in the state with 96.2% of the state’s production. McKenzie County produces 31% of the state’s production.
