Local help available with healthcare enrollment
BISMARCK – Free assistance is available during this year’s annual open enrollment period, which runs from Nov. 1 through Jan. 15, for individuals looking to enroll or re-enroll in a Marketplace health insurance plan.
The Marketplace offers health insurance coverage for individuals and families who don’t have access to health insurance through their employer and those who are not eligible for Medicaid or Medicare.
“This year, we are encouraging individuals to log into their Marketplace account shortly after Nov. 1 to complete their application for 2026,” said Lindsey Karlson, director of Programs and Training at the Community HealthCare Association of the Dakotas, in a news release. “We anticipate that there will be changes to advanced premium tax credits compared to 2025. Logging in early gives people time to review those changes and select a plan.”
Community health centers, including Northland Health Center in Minot, have staff who can help people enroll and make sure they understand their plans.Translation services are available for free for non-English speakers.
North Dakota also has a Navigator program through Minot State University that can be reached by calling 1-800-233-1737 or 858-3580. An email also can be sent to NDNavigators@MinotStateU.edu.
To get coverage starting Jan 1, enroll by Dec 15. To get coverage starting Feb 1, enroll between Dec 16 and Jan 15.
