Legislator named Election Hero Award recipient

BISMARCK – State Sen. Kristin Roers of Fargo has been announced as the recipient of the 2025 Election Hero Award.

“North Dakota elections are safe, secure, accurate, and timely because of the laws our Legislature has put in place,” said Secretary of State Michael Howe in announcing the award. “Senator Roers has provided support for our elections, not just as a legislator, but also by serving firsthand as an election worker, making her deserving of the Election Hero Award.”

McKenzie County Auditor Erica Johnsrud nominated Roers for the award, detailing how she supports and upholds the integrity of elections.

Roers has served in the North Dakota Senate since 2019. She chairs the standing State and Local Government Committee, which includes elections, and also serves on the Human Services Committee.

This is the third year the award has been presented in North Dakota. The North Dakota County Auditors Association received the 2024 award, and Kari Phillips of Langdon received the award in 2023.

Starting at $2.99/week.
