FARGO – Stanley and Marianne Vangsness of Berthold were honored from Ward County during the 51st annual Harvest Bowl held at North Dakota State University Nov. 15.

Each year, the Harvest Bowl program recognizes the spirit and dedication of agriculturists across North Dakota and western Minnesota.

Stanley Vangsness has farmed in Ward County for 35 years on his family’s third-generation farm, established in the early 1900s, according to information provided by NDSU. He has raised certified durum seed, canola and soybeans using minimum-till practices for the past 30 years, which has improved soil health and reduced erosion. He earned a bachelor’s degree in agriculture from NDSU in 1982. He serves as chairman of the SRT Communications board, vice chairman of the Broadband Association of North Dakota and is a Carpio Township supervisor. Marianne Vangsness is retired from the North Dakota Department of Human Services and actively helps with the farm.
