California woman sentenced for burglary

A Bakersfield, California, woman has been sentenced to serve 180 days with the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation after entering a change of plea to guilty to felony counts of burglary and child neglect.

Jemarria Leeon Johnson, 24, appeared in North Central District Court on Tuesday, Oct. 28, to enter a change of plea to guilty on counts of burglary-night, a Class B felony; and child neglect-parental care, a Class C felony. A Class A misdemeanor count of false information to law enforcement was dismissed in accordance with a plea agreement.

According to court documents, Minot Central Dispatch requested patrol units respond to a southwest Minot apartment complex in the early morning of Christmas Eve 2024, for a report of two females being disorderly. The two suspects fled the complex, but were detained by officers shortly after they arrived.

The juvenile victim told officers he was awoken by banging at the door of the apartment, and said the two women barged into the residence and proceeded to hit and kick him, according to the affidavit of probable cause. The victim reported a prolonged struggle between him and the two women, who eventually fled the apartment.

The two women were eventually identified as Cody Evan Williams, 28, and Johnson.

Judge Gary Lee sentenced Johnson to serve 10 years with the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, with all but 180 days suspended. Johnson was given credit for 27 days already served, and ordered to complete three years of supervised probation. She was ordered to have no contact with the victim, and to pay $1,275 in court fines and fees.
