Woman injured in crash with vehicle carrying basketball team
CRARY – A 38-year-old Devils Lake woman was seriously injured when the vehicle she was driving, and a van carrying nine members of the Lake Region College men’s basketball team and its driver crashed on U.S. Highway 2, about two and a half miles southeast of Crary in Ramsey County Wednesday, Oct. 22.
According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, about 9:35 p.m., a 2004 Infiniti FX35, driven by Shayna Glaser, and a 2019 Chevrolet Express van transporting the basketball team, were both westbound on the highway. The Infiniti struck the rear of the van, entered the median, rolled and came to rest in the median. The van entered eastbound Highway 2 and was driven to a stop.
Glaser was not wearing a seat belt. She was taken to a Devils Lake hospital and then transported to a Grand Forks Hospital. She faces a Class B misdemeanor charge of DUI, according to the Highway Patrol.
The van’s driver, Preston Sundeen, 43, Lakota, and the nine passengers were not injured. All were wearing their seat belts. The passengers in the van were Cooper Adams, 18, Sunshine Coast, Australia; Akok Ajou, 20, Devils Lake; Lance Bradley, 20, Fort Yates; Jazayah Gates, 20, North St. Paul, Minnesota; Dalen Leftbear, 19, Tokio; Ashton Munro, 18, Sydney, Australia; Little Hail Perkins, 19, Garrison; Albert Wellington, 19, St. Paul, Minnesota; and Osezojie Okhuoria, 19, Morden, Manitoba.
The crash remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
