NODAKON 2025 focuses on cyber safety
Minot State University’s School of Business, Math, and Technology will host its annual cybersecurity event, NODAKON, on Thursday, Oct. 16, at the Minot State Student Center Conference Center and Model Hall.
Now in its fifth year, NODAKON will feature a Cybersecurity Summit titled “See something, say something: Only you can prevent cyberattacks.”
“The importance of cybersecurity cannot be overstated. Our goal with this event is to empower the greater community with skills and knowledge to remain vigilant when it comes to cybersecurity,” said Krisi Berg, MSU professor of computer information systems, in an MSU news release.
The community is invited to attend free sessions beginning at 10 a.m. in the MSU Student Center Conference Center with a brief welcome and three guest speakers. Jacob Rued, from First Western Bank and Trust, will discuss cyber fraud and finances. James Hudler, from North Dakota Information Technology, will speak as a passionate cyber defender. Thomas Blade, from Arctic Wolf, will address steps to take after getting hacked.
A free lunch will be offered at noon with registration required. During lunch, keynote speaker Peter Ingebrigtsen, a cyber evangelist, will discuss awareness of security risks and solutions.
Afternoon sessions will be open only to MSU students.
