Board seeks Water Stewardship Award nominees
DEVILS LAKE – Nominations for the 2025 Devils Lake Basin Water Stewardship Award are being accepted by the Devils Lake Basin Joint Water Resource Board until Monday, Nov. 3.
The award was established in December 2002 to honor individuals, groups, organizations and projects that have demonstrated a commitment to enhancing the quality of life in the Devils Lake Basin community. This recognition is specifically for those who have made efforts to improve land and water stewardship.
Mike Tweed, board chairman, said nominations will be accepted from any individual, organization, or governmental body within the Devils Lake Basin, which includes Cavalier, Eddy, Nelson, Pierce, Ramsey, Towner and Walsh Counties.
Nomination information was provided to county commissions, Extension agents, soil conservation districts, and water boards in the seven counties. Additionally, nomination details can be obtained from any Joint Board member by contacting the Joint Board office in the Ramsey County Courthouse in Devils Lake.
All nominations will be evaluated by an independent panel of Basin residents who are knowledgeable about the four areas of the DLBW management plant: agriculture, recreation, wildlife and fisheries, and economic development.
“These areas are crucial to the future of the Basic community,” Tweed said.
The 2025 award will be presented at the Annual Joint Water Convention Awards Banquet on Thursday, Dec. 11, at the Bismarck Hotel in Bismarck.
