Alzheimer’s Association to offer presentations

BISMARCK – The Alzheimer’s Association will offer a free virtual presentation titled “Understanding Alzheimer’s and Dementia” on Tuesday, Oct. 21, from noon-1 p.m.

Learn about the impact of Alzheimer’s, the difference between Alzheimer’s and dementia, stages, risk factors, current research and treatments available for some symptoms, and Alzheimer’s Association resources.

The Alzheimer’s Association will offer a free virtual webinar presentation, “The Empowered Caregiver: Responding to Dementia-Related Behaviors” on Wednesday, Oct. 22, from 2-3p.m.

This class is designed to increase caregiver confidence while reducing stress. Learn ways to approach the responsibilities of caring for someone living with dementia using a person-centered approach. The course outlines how dementia can cause changes in a person’s behavior, including how a person may communicate. Learn about the possible reasons for behaviors and ways to address them, including non-medical and medical approaches.

Registration is required to attend the events by contacting the Alzheimer’s Association Minnesota-Dakota Chapter. This project is funded through the North Dakota Department of Health and Human Services, Adult and Aging Services Section.
