US Bank to make changes in Minot operations

U.S. Bank is making changes in its presence in Minot.

Caitlin Hurley, assistant vice president/business line communications manager-Midwest who is based in Minneapolis, said U.S. Bank is reinvesting in the community with enhancements to the Minot South Auto Bank located at 1925 S. Broadway.

“The branch will be transformed from a drive-up only to a full-service branch. Due to this, the location will temporarily close starting in September and reopen later in the fall,” Hurley said.

She said clients received notification in August that the downtown Minot branch at 17 1st Ave. SW is scheduled to close Tuesday, Nov. 18.

“We understand that the closure of any branch is a disruption for our clients and our employees, and we are working to make the transition as smooth as possible for all involved,” Hurley said.

“The closure of this branch will not affect client accounts and there will be no interruption of service, with access to accounts available online, through our mobile app and at the nearby Minot South Auto Bank location. Additionally, employees affected by the closure of the Minot branch located on First Avenue Southwest will continue to support clients at the Minot South branch once the remodel is complete,” Hurley added.

Explaining the upcoming changes, Hurley said clients’ banking preferences and behaviors are changing, including a rapid migration toward digital and mobile banking platforms and a desire for greater simplicity.

“As we evolve along with our clients, we are evaluating our physical footprint, and in some instances, consolidating branch locations in select markets. Although we are closing some branches, we continue to open and enhance others,” she said.

The downtown Minot U.S. Bank has been the site of a bank for many years. Initially Union National Bank, the bank’s name changed to First Bank of North Dakota-Minot in 1977 and then the name was changed to U.S. Bank in the 1990s, according to The Minot Daily News files.

Also according to the MDN files, the construction of the building with drive-up banking service was completed in September 1963 for Union National Bank’s new headquarters in Minot.

Hurley said they are proud to have served their clients in the downtown Minot branch and look forward to welcoming the community into their remodeled location later this fall.

Starting at $2.99/week.
