Southwest Minot intersection to reopen
On Wednesday, Sept. 24, the intersection of 16th Street and 11th Avenue Southwest in Minot reopens to full traffic. The reopening also includes the stretch of 16th Street from 11th Avenue Southwest north to Burdick Expressway. The temporary traffic signal will remain in place until November.
According to a news release, brief intermittent lane closures in the 11th Avenue Southwest intersection may be required in November to allow installation of the permanent signal system.
While this marks another milestone in the project, 16th Street will remain closed south of 11th Avenue Southwest through mid-October, allowing crews to continue making long-term improvements.
The temporary connection between 14th Avenue Southwest/Cook Drive and 18th Street will remain in place during this time, providing access for neighborhood traffic west of 16th Street and south of 14th Avenue Southwest. Residents and businesses located to the east of 16th Street can continue to access their properties via nearby side streets.
Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead, allow for extra travel time and use alternative routes whenever possible. The public is also urged to slow down and exercise caution when traveling near construction zones for the safety of both themselves and the crews.
