Roosevelt Park Zoo earns AZA accreditation
The Minot Park District and Roosevelt Park Zoo announce the zoo has once again earned accreditation from the Association of Zoos & Aquariums (AZA).
According to a news release, the accreditation places the zoo among 254 zoos and aquariums in the world to meet the organization’s rigorous standards.
Accreditation represents the highest level of excellence in the zoological profession and reaffirms Roosevelt Park Zoo’s unwavering commitment to animal welfare, conservation, education and guest experience. AZA accreditation is considered the gold standard in the zoological industry. The thorough review process evaluates every aspect of zoo operations, from animal care and welfare to veterinary programs, staff training, safety, conservation efforts, guest services and more.
Achieving this standard once again is a significant accomplishment that showcases the passion and professionalism of the Roosevelt Park Zoo team, according to the news release.
“This achievement is a reflection of the dedication, integrity and innovation of the entire Minot Park District staff,” said Dr. Logan Wood, zoo director. “We strive every day to embody our core values. Being leaders in our field, driving positive change in conservation and animal care, and always working to exceed the expectations of our guests.”
While the accreditation is a major milestone, the zoo acknowledges that such success is never achieved alone.
“This accreditation is an achievement that was made possible by our dedicated team at the Minot Park District and our unwavering partners,” said Elly DesLauriers, executive director of the Minot Park District. “We are grateful for their passion and commitment to the mission of the Roosevelt Park Zoo and the Minot Park District.”
“This accreditation belongs to Minot,” Wood added. “Together, we can continue our vision to make Roosevelt Park Zoo the best small-town zoo in America.”
