Minot receives loan to replace water mains
BISMARCK — Minot was one of six communities awarded loans in August through the State Revolving Fund programs, jointly administered by the North Dakota Department of Environmental Quality and the North Dakota Public Finance Authority, to support critical water infrastructure.
Minot received a $3.2 million Drinking Water State Revolving Fund loan to replace cast-iron water mains in the Dacotah Homes Addition and along Second Avenue Southwest and 11th Avenue Northwest. These updates will reduce breaks and improve water quality issues.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency provides part of the SRF Programs funding, which offers below-market interest rate loans to political subdivisions for financing projects authorized under the Clean Water Act and Safe Drinking Water Act. SRF programs operate nationwide to provide funding to maintain and improve the infrastructure that protects our vital water resources.
Loans are awarded to projects listed on the NDDEQ project priority list based on project eligibility and repayment ability.
