Community Action relaunches weatherization program
FARGO – Community Action Partnership of North Dakota (CAPND) announced it is seeing a rising need for weatherization workers in Bismarck, Dickinson, Devils Lake, Fargo, Jamestown, Minot and Williston. The weatherization team, now called WX Force, is recruiting new members to help impact people who experience low incomes, housing insecurity and other economic hardships.
In particular, there is an urgent need to build strong leadership capacity in Williston. As the region continues to grow and face unique housing and workforce challenges, CAPND is seeking not only skilled crew members but also leadership team members who can guide local weatherization efforts, mentor new staff and help shape the future of the program in western North Dakota.
Weatherization encompasses a variety of building or home improvements that save money on utility bills and improve the health, safety and comfort of homes for the residents. The Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) is a network of nearly 800 local organizations across the United States that use funds from the U.S. Department of Energy and other partners to weatherize the homes of low-income households at no cost to them.
