DEVILS LAKE —- Woodland Resort is set to mark the grand opening of its newest addition, the Shores Venue event center, with a public celebration on Monday, Aug. 11, at 5 p.m. Situated along the scenic Creel Bay shoreline, the new 13,000-square-foot facility is poised to become a premier destination for weddings, corporate events and other large-scale gatherings.
Guests attending the event will enjoy a short program featuring remarks from Gov. Kelly Armstrong and other key project partners.
The Shores Venue expansion was supported in part by a $1.75 million Destination Development Grant from the North Dakota Department of Commerce. This latest development continues the resort’s legacy of growth, which began more than three decades ago with a modest bait shop and a handful of cabins. Today, Woodland Resort encompasses a hotel, motel, full-service marina and, now, a modern event center.
In a news release, Armstrong praised the resort’s ongoing contributions to the region, noting, “Woodland Resort continues to be a landmark destination for Devils Lake residents and visitors alike. Whether it’s the thrill of catching a 30-inch walleye or the reward of an unforgettable hike, guests create lifelong memories here — and the Shores Venue adds another way to experience this incredible region.”
Designed and constructed by Consolidated Construction Company, a Bismarck-based design-build firm, the venue offers both indoor and outdoor event space with a capacity for up to 400 guests. On-site catering and bar services are also included in the facility’s offerings. This marks the second partnership between Woodland Resort and Consolidated Construction, which previously collaborated on an expansion project in 2015. The Shores Venue was completed in less than a year.
Kyle Blanchfield, third-generation owner of Woodland Resort, called the development a natural extension of the family business.
“We can now offer once-in-a-lifetime events in one of the most beautiful locations in the region,” he said in the release.
