Suspect arrested after weekend burglary
A suspect was arrested in connection to a weekend burglary in northeast Minot.
The suspect was identified as Winona E. Keplin, 33, Minot, who has been arrested for one count of burglary, a Class C felony, according to the Minot Police Department.
Police officers responded to a reported burglary at a residence in northeast Minot at 12:38 p.m. Aug. 2. The preliminary investigation revealed the resident was awoken by an unknown female in his bedroom. The suspect fled the home wearing mismatched shoes taken from the residence, and also took an undisclosed amount of cash and jewelry belonging to the resident.
Keplin was located during a welfare check about an hour and a half later, still wearing the mismatched shoes and in possession of additional property from the residence. Keplin reportedly told the officers she believed the house was abandoned.
Keplin was transported to the Ward County Jail. The incident remains under investigation.
