One person killed, one injured in rear-end crash
One person died and another was injured in a two-vehicle, rear-end crash on U.S. Highway 83, south of Minot, Aug. 1.
According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol,about 11 a.m., a Geo Metro, driven by a 73-year-old Minot man, was traveling north on Highway 83 when a northbound 2018 Ford Escape, driven by a 61-year-old Parshall woman, rear-ended the Metro. The Metro went into the ditch and the Escape came to rest on the shoulder of the road.
The driver of the Metro died at the scene, according to the Highway Patrol. He was not wearing a seat belt.
The driver of the Escape received non-life-threatening injuries. She was wearing a seat belt.
Their names were not released at this time.
The crash remains under investigation by the Highway Patrol.
