Occupant rescued from house fire

One person was rescued by Minot firefighters from a house fire in northeast Minot Tuesday, Aug. 12.
According to Minot Fire Department information, about 3:30 p.m. firefighters were dispatched to the 500 block of Sixth Avenue Northeast for reports of smoke coming from a home. The first arriving crews were met by occupants who had exited the residence and informed firefighters that another occupant and two dogs were still inside. Firefighters immediately initiated search and rescue efforts. Other arriving crews began fire suppression efforts while ventilation and support operations were underway.
The search team located the occupant and both dogs and initiated advanced lifesaving measures on the patient, who was transported to a Minot hospital for injuries sustained in the fire. Lifesaving measures were also performed on the two dogs; one survived, and the other did not.
All five fire stations responded to the incident. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
