A New Town man has been charged following an apartment fire in southeast Minot Monday, Aug. 25.

According to the Minot Police Department, officers and the Minot Fire Department responded to a report about 7:59 p.m., Monday of a basket of clothes set on fire inside an apartment unit. The fire was extinguished by one of the occupants prior to emergency personnel arriving on scene.

Chozey J. Morsette, 30, was identified as the suspect, who had fled the area before officers arrived.

Morsette was located at 3:30 a.m., Tuesday and arrested without incident on six counts of endangerment by fire, a Class C felony. He was transported to the Ward County Jail, and also made his initial appearance in North Central District Court Tuesday.

A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 2, at 11:30 a.m.
