Donation Station returns for 2025

The Minot Area Community Foundation (MACF) has kicked off its 8th Annual Donation Station Challenge Grant, a program benefitting local food pantries, beginning Monday, Sept. 1, and continuing through Wednesday, Dec. 31.

This year’s challenge is especially significant as it coincides with the foundation’s 25th anniversary. In recognition of the milestone, MACF has simplified the program to maximize impact by removing most past stipulations, allowing more dollars to flow directly back into the community, according to MACF information.

For every pound of food collected during Donation Station drives, the Arnold I. Besserud Fund will contribute $1 to the organization’s designated food pantry. Unlike in previous years, there are no minimum or maximum collection requirements, making it easier for groups to participate.

The program has proven effective since its launch in 2017. In 2024, 12 organizations collected 15,223 pounds of food, resulting in $11,500 in grants to local pantries. Overall, the Donation Station has gathered more than 85,394 pounds of food, with the Besserud Fund granting $38,500 back into the community.

“We’re looking forward to another successful year for the Donation Station Challenge Grant, especially as we celebrate MACF’s 25th anniversary,” said Jason Zimmerman, MACF president. “This challenge grant is a reflection of Mr. Besserud’s legacy and his deep passion for supporting soup kitchens and food pantries. It’s a meaningful way to honor his generosity while addressing a critical community need.”
