CyberTip leads to arrest in Minot

A search warrant executed Thursday, Aug. 7, following a CyberTip investigation, led to the arrest of a 35-year-old Minot man for possession of child sexual material, according to the Minot Police Department.

Juan Jose Lozano Jr. was taken into custody and booked into the Ward County Jail. Lozano faces nine Class A felony charges of promoting an obscene sexual performance by a minor, along with nine Class C felony charges of possession of certain material prohibited.

Officers carried out the warrant around 9:45 a.m. at a residence in southeast Minot following a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

The CyberTip, received in early July 2025, stemmed from files flagged by the electronic service provider Kik as suspected to contain child sexual abuse material. The North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation assisted Minot Police with the case.

The investigation is ongoing.
