Confluence Center announces upcoming programs

WILLISTON — Fort Buford State Historic Site and Missouri-Yellowstone Confluence Interpretive Center near Williston will hold a flag lowering ceremony at noon on Monday, Sept. 1. A historical 37-star U.S. flag will be lowered, marking the close of the 2025 tourism season.

However, there will be a program on Saturday, Sept. 27, “Confluence Learning Lab: Early Peoples of the Confluence,” from 2-3 p.m., according to the North Dakota State Historical Society. Participants will discover how the earliest peoples of the Confluence region lived, hunted and thrived during this hands-on educational experience for all ages. They will explore authentic and replica artifacts, learn how stone tools were made and test their skills with real atlatls, the ancient spear-throwing tools used by Indigenous peoples for thousands of years.

Registration is not required for free programs, and children must be accompanied by an adult.

Starting at $2.99/week.
