Community Back-to-School Bash starts new year

WHITE SHIELD – The White Shield community welcomed in a new year of learning at a Back-to-School Bash, with special guest speakers, held at the White Shield Outdoor Sports Complex Monday, Aug. 11.
Guest speaker actor Avery Hale stars in “Rez Ball,” a Netflix movie released last September. Hale is a graduate of New Town High School and the University of Kansas, where he was on the track team. He went on to the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Guest speaker Dr. Bernice DuBois is a physician in the Parshall field clinic. She talked about how she was raised at White Shield, received extensive emergency experience, and brought it home.
School began in White Shield Aug. 11.
